Gal Gadot, known for her portrayal of Wonder Woman in Marvel’s movie franchise, is set to play the role of the legendary Egyptian queen in an upcoming movie produced by Paramount Films.
On Sunday, the actress took to Twitter to announce her collaboration with @PattyJenks and @LKalogridis in bringing the legendary story of Cleopatra, the Queen of Egypt, to the cinema with a fresh and unique perspective.
For the very first time, her story will be narrated through the perspective of women, both those working behind and in front of the camera.
She added, “It’s particularly exciting for us to share this news on #InternationalDayoftheGirl.”
Our hope is that females globally, who have aspirations to share narratives, will persist in pursuing their dreams and vocalize their thoughts, representing not only themselves but other women as well.
The announcement about the casting of an Israeli actress as the historical figure of Cleopatra has caused a split of opinions on various social media platforms. Many users have expressed their dissatisfaction with this choice since Cleopatra was of Greek and Macedonian heritage but ruled over Egypt.
